About This Course
As the U.S. power sector accelerates its digital transformation, cybersecurity has become a cornerstone of grid reliability and resilience. With new communication technologies linking substations, control centers, and distributed energy resources, utilities must now secure not only their information networks but also the operational technology (OT) environments that keep the grid running in real time. Belden supports this mission by helping utilities modernize and defend their networks without compromising determinism or compliance.

In this session, hosted by Guilhermme Lisboa, we bring together two of Belden’s leading experts—Arnau Vasquez and Davy Haegdorens, joined by Jon Ramirez de Olano—for an engaging, conversational discussion on how utilities can reinforce cybersecurity from the wide-area backbone to the substation edge.
Target Audience
  • Utility cybersecurity and information security teams

  • IT and OT network engineers and architects

  • Substation, operations, and grid modernization leaders

  • Compliance and risk management professionals

Starting as a Lead Engineer for PACS (Protection, Automation, and Control Systems), he advanced to Engineering Manager, expanding into both PACS and Telecom projects. He has delivered projects with major EPCs and System Integrators across Transmission, Distribution, Renewables, BESS, FACTS, GIS, Industry, and Mass Transit, with a strong focus on IEC 61850 applications and network design. Since 2022, Guilhermme has been a Global Digital Automation Consultant at Belden, driving Digital Substations, IEC 61850 adoption, and the transition to packet-based networks. He holds a B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering (UFPR, 2008), an M.Sc. in Electronic Systems (2023), and actively contributes to CIGRÉ Committees B5 and D2.

Arnau Vasquez is a Senior Solution Consultant at Belden Inc., where he leads the design and delivery of advanced industrial communication and cybersecurity solutions across the US and other regions. With more than 15 years of international experience, Arnau has managed and engineered large-scale projects in critical sectors including energy, transportation, mining, and oil & gas. He holds a Master of Science in Telecommunication Networks and is a certified trainer in several industrial networking technologies

Jon Ramirez de Olano is a telecommunications engineer with more than 20 years of experience spanning both IT and OT environments. As a Solution Architect at Belden, he is dedicated to designing and implementing advanced networking solutions while sharing his expertise to help others navigate complex connectivity challenges. In recent years, Jon has expanded his focus into industrial cybersecurity, specializing in the design of secure and resilient infrastructure. In this webinar, Jon presents a reference network segmentation for an IEC 61850 substation, demonstrating how Belden’s comprehensive portfolio—including Hirschmann Industrial Switches, the Belden NGFW OT Firewall, Network Access Control, and Anomaly Detection based on IEC 61850 protocols—integrates to create a robust and efficient network architecture.
