Director Infrastructure and Operations

About the instructor

Steve Liegl is Director of Infrastructure and Operations at WEC Energy Group, which includes seven regulated gas, electric, and renewable energy utilities across Wisconsin, Michigan, Minnesota, and the Chicago area.

He leads IT infrastructure and operations, overseeing budgets, staffing, technical training, outsourcing, and teams responsible for infrastructure, messaging, service desk, client devices, software deployment, and IT asset management. He also works closely with business units to support the specialized technology needs of electric and gas utilities.

Since joining WEC Energy Group ten years ago, Steve has held leadership roles in network operations, voice and data communications, and infrastructure and operations. Before entering the utility industry, he spent 17 years in the cellular industry with Verizon Wireless, AT&T, T-Mobile, and BellSouth, working in network operations and core network engineering.

Steve also served six years in the U.S. Marine Corps. He holds a Doctorate of Business Administration and an MBA from the University of Wisconsin–Whitewater, as well as a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Wisconsin Lutheran College.
